JINDO, South Korea— Koh Sun-ja feels a surge of anger whenever she sees her deserted raw fish restaurant that she's been running with her husband for 30 years.
As one of only a few restaurants at Paengmok Port on the southern coast of Jindo island, the restaurant had always bustled with beachgoers and anglers. But everything changed when a ferry capsized and sank 17 miles offshore.
"Since that happened, patrons completely stopped coming," says Ms. Koh, letting out a deep sigh. "I feel so sorry for the families, but I can't stand it anymore. I have no idea when I can resume my life" she says. Her husband stopped going out to the sea to catch fish. "There is no demand here."
On April 16, the ferry Sewol sank in the water off the southern coast near the island, claiming hundreds of lives. A total of 294 bodies have been recovered, and 10 are still missing....
